The Lower Antelope Canyon tour is entirely on foot and lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, covering about 1,800 meters (1.1 miles) round trip. Your guided experience begins with a short 10-minute walk from the check-in booth to the canyon entrance.

When: November to February

For a quieter and more personal experience, the winter months from November through February are ideal. During this period, the angle of the sun creates gentler lighting inside the canyon, reducing glare and heat. The softer illumination highlights the sandstone textures and natural color variations, making it an excellent time for sightseeing and photography.

The canyon entrance is located a 10-minute walk from Dixie’s Tours office.

  • All guests must complete and sign a Participant Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumptions of Risks, and Indemnity Agreement in favor of Lower Antelope Canyon Tours with Lower Antelope Canyon Tours prior to departure. 
  • At the start of the tour, guides will share important safety instructions that must be followed throughout the experience. 
  • Use handrails where provided, as surfaces may be slick and passages can be narrow or uneven.
  • Animals of any kind, including pets, are not permitted on the tour. 
  • Items such as walking sticks, tripods, selfie sticks, and outside food or drinks must be left behind before entering the canyon. 
  • Flash photography, video recording, and littering are strictly prohibited. 
  • Guests are encouraged to carry cash for guide gratuities, typically $3–$5 per person.
  • The tour requires a moderate level of physical fitness due to uneven ground, stairways, and ladder climbs. 
  • While Dixie’s Tours’ parking area and office are wheelchair accessible, the canyon itself is not. 
  • Participation is not recommended for guests who are pregnant or who have mobility limitations, heart conditions, respiratory concerns, or claustrophobia due to the canyon’s narrow and enclosed sections.
  • Restroom facilities are available at the Dixie’s Tours office. Use them before your tour, as there are no restrooms inside the canyon. 
  • In the event of an emergency, Navajo guides are trained in first aid and prepared to assist guests as needed.
